The video Wudu is based on a documentation of the cleansing ritual preceding prayer, enacted by a young woman in a household bathroom. The recorded material is doubled and assembled side by side in a way that divides the video image in two halves, thus showing two women. While on the image’s right side, the sequence of the cleansing ritual (three times the cleansing of the right then left hand, the elbows, the arms, the ears, the nostrils, the feet etc.) is faithfully captured, parallel to this, on the image’s left side, the entire sequence transpires in the reverse.

Das Video Wudu basiert auf der Aufnahme der dem Gebet vorausgehenden rituellen Waschung, die von einer jungen Frau im häuslichen Badezimmer durchgeführt wird. Das aufgenommene Material wird verdoppelt und so nebeneinander montiert, dass das Videobild in zwei Hälften geteilt ist und mithin zwei Frauen zeigt. Während in der rechten Bildhälfte die Reihenfolge bei der Waschung (3fache Waschung der rechten, dann der linken Hand, der Ellbogen, Arme, Ohren, Nasenlöcher, Füße etc.) getreulich eingehalten wird, läuft parallel dazu auf der linken Bildhälfte der gesamte Ablauf in umgekehrter Reihenfolge ab.
