The World is Flat

The World is Flat , 2008
Map of Parasite Architectures and Caution Performances from "2001 until 2008"
O—Overgaden, Copenhagen, Denmark

The World is Flat, is a distinctive art project that unfolds the potential of maps and mappings as an artistic expression.
Since 2001, Shahram Entekhabi has used caution tape to create new, temporary territories in public space. He has used his performances to question our view of this kind of tape and pointed out how physical spaces are segregated and how certain groups of the population are prevented from going where they please. Throughout the years, he has conducted these performances, also known as Parasite Architectures, No Exits or Cautions, many different places around the world. In this particular contribution, Entekhabi has mapped his performances in a map of the world where they are interconnected in a constellation of lines which in its own intricate form is reminiscent of his performances.
